Online shopping vs Physical shoppingSince the dawn of man and his first initial steps into the trade arena , certain basic principles has always influenced how he conducted his business and how profitable his business was. These same principles also influenced the consumer directly. Over the years these principles have never really changed , they might have taken on a new form or to.What they did become however was more and more important. Physical shopping - The first of the three basic principles namely location. This is same as it was a hundred years ago. Having a physical shop or store means that you are situated in one street , one town and one country.This is also the most expensive part of running your business. Leasing a building can be very expensive. The importance of location becomes more clear when you look at the second principle. The second basic principle being customers. Without a steady supply of customers and the introduction of new ones from time to time no company will be able to survive not to mention show any sign of growth whatsoever. So your store must be easily accessible by your customers. The third principle is your workforce. This includes everyone from the guy who cleans to you manager.If treated unfairly they could single handedly destroy your business. Remember they are your eyes and ears on the floor. They are also always the first to be directly in contact with your customers. Online shopping - The first principle here also being location but with a nice twist. The internet has allowed you to have a store in each home , in every town in every country on every continent. Now you can market your product or services globally. Since your business is online you do not have to lease a building. Saving you allot of money. The second principle namely customers stays the same .The difference here being that your target market has increases dramatically in numbers. You can say that the playground just got allot bigger with more toys to play with. Another thing to keep in mind here is the fact that your target audience will now comprise of a multitude of nationalities. Time has shown that if something is a trend in one country it will with time spill over to another and become a trend there. The third namely workforce decreases dramatically , thanks to automated software. Again you save allot of money here.Now that we have discussed the three basic principles for both physical shopping and online shopping we can now draw fairly accurate conclusions for both the consumer as well as the store owner. For a physical shop you have allot of expenses. Since you have to make a profit all these expenses gets added to the price tags of your products. This also gives your opposition a bigger sniff of the market. Since online shopping is the opposite of physical , we can safely assume that your expenses is much less. You can therefore sell your products at a reduced price making the same profit. For the consumer this means lower prices and better living. |
